Climbed up Guanaco Peak on June 23, 2019. Parked at the parking space at the Douglas Lake and Zum Peak access point (its really obvious). There’s another 5km or so to the start of the trail but the logging road is really overgrown and there’s a couple major potholes, as well as a couple creeks to cross. I chose to mountain bike this part and recommended doing so. The trail up was pretty straightforward. The shoulder/col between Vicuna and Guanaco is beautiful. To the top of guanaco is a mild scramble, nothing technical. Vicuna looks pretty daunting, but I hear there’s some attached chains to help. Overall, a good hike, but I’d rate it a step below compared to Yak or Needle.
