Great bang for your buck on this one except for the long drive. You can summit Frenchman Mtn within two hours of parking your car. A footpath is easy to follow in some spots, but gets vague at times, but it's also reasonably well flagged too. Won't see many people on this one. Fair bit of scat in the cut block, probably due to the proliferation of huckleberries.
Road is in pretty good shape, just a short rough section before the parking spot. Brush is heavily grown in though, so you'll get a few scratches. Trailhead starts where you can't drive anymore. You'll know you're there because you'll see a couple big unused culverts sitting on the road, and the chicken wire to wrap your car with.
I'd recommend bear spray and making noise. Lots of berries, and a fair bit of scat.
