The spur up to the road isn't too bad. Moderate/high clearance needed. Took us 10hrs return, including breaks and an hour side-trip. There's a good sized part of this trail that's as steep as any trail I've ever seen. It's less than an hour, but it rivals the Hermit Trail in Roger's Pass, The Judge's Route up Mt Arrowsmith on Vancouver Island, and even the Grouse Grind in Vancovuer. Saw two different piles of bear shit, but didn't see/hear them. No other hikers that day (thursday). Still some flowers blooming up high. Trail is slightly grown in, but it's only a problem if its a wet morning (our pants got soaked). The 100+ downed trees have been removed and there's only 4 or so trees across the trail. Once you get to the viewpoint of the lake and falls, there's a big hand-stacked pile of rocks. We went left and up the ridge and onto the morraine and up to the glacier and 2nd lake. But there were yellow ribbons going left from the pile of rocks, going down into the bush. Maybe this goes down to the lake shore or to the base of the falls? I continued beyond the end of the route, up the ridge just to the right of the glacier, gaining about 150-200m for improved views. No bugs whatsoever.
