A very nice little hike, despite being busy. Ignore the crowds, head up the side of Lake Louise and enjoy. The scenery is immense. And it's well worth following the trail along the moraine to the end for superb views up the `Death Trap' ice falls to the Abbott Pass hut.
Watch for mountain goats on the cliffs - we've been here twice and seen goats both times. The ground squirrels are very `friendly' (ie unashamed beggars). The tea house was actually quite nice and, to be honest, not unreasonably priced. We had the corner table on the upper balcony: very scenic :-)
Don't bother taking the upper trail back (which goes past Mirror Lake and the Beehive): you get one good view of Lake Louise, a big let-down for Mirror Lake (the water was low) and a ton of knee-knackering switchbacks for your trouble. Far better to simply retrace your steps and enjoy the lake.
