Short hike with awesome payoffs assuming you have a High Clearance 4x4 as that is the minimum cost of entry. (You might make it in a AWD for about 4km up New Borden FSR until you hit the first few water bars but then you are in for a looooong, sad slog up forest service roads for hours... not advisable.)
The old Borden FSR is out due to bridge collapse some time ago... and this one also has a bridge that is out of commission much farther up which, with some finesse you can circumnavigate by driving through a narrow creek. Did I mention high clearance 4x4! Yup...
Its a gorgeous area with healthy, non-forested slopes and meadows. You can actually feel it... forested areas have a feeling of disharmony in them and aesthetically of course you can see if a forest is struggling from its injuries. This is not that... its balanced and serene.
The trail is a bit tricky in spots ... please take a GPS track as reference. Also note, you may have more or less success getting further up the FSR... I could have gone farther but I actually wanted some sort of workout... if you drive all the way to the end of the drivable road you wont have much to do imho. :) I marked it on the map here for your reference.
Photos in no particular order.
Caveat: Use the GPS track attached at your own risk... It is accurate, but I cannot vouch for the accuracy of your phone or device, or user error... practice using tracks is my suggestion... this one is not hard but you will be challenged in the future... I guarantee it.
