Looking back i fondly remember, as a kid, going hiking with my Dad. Now as a Mom, i am hoping to work towards doing the same for my two boys. After taking a momentous backpacking journey up to Joffre Lakes ( 2 nights, 2 adults, a 7yo and an almost 1yo- who i packed in) i am inspired and driven to further explore, discover and tackle many of the amazing trails in Southwest BC.
We choose to check out the Lower falls on Gold Creek as a easy walk for me, as i was all of about 9 months pregnant and trying to get things moving LOL. For the most part the trail is wide and very well travelled, some parts were rather mucky, but easy enough to get around. There are a few little side trails to access the creek, and on a hot day, it makes for a very refreshing swim. You can also head the other direction from the parking lot to get to the lake beach. The trail is really fairly flat, and could almost be passable with a jogging stroller, until the very end where it narrows and goes up a bit. The falls while not particularly tall, are absolutely lovely, and cascade a large volume of water. The pool atop them was quiet simply gorgeous, eerily inviting ( but of course completely unsafe to enter).
This was a short, very easy, and rather rewarding outing, even though i did have to wait a whole 23 more days until labor
