The 2km road to the Rubble Creek parking lot is covered with snow and has 2 thick tire-tracks. I didn't attempt to drive it with my Corolla, and chose to walk it instead (see photos for for a picture of the road). That said, there was a regular car parked at the parking lot so someone made it. I started walking at 9:00 from the parking lot and was back at the parking lot at 16:00. The trail is very well marked and tightly packed with the occasional icy section. I didn't have snowshoes but they would probably help with traction. I was tempted to leave the summer trail and follow the tracks of previous snow-shoers across Barrier lake and then on to Lesser Garibaldi lake. I was planning to follow the creek from Lesser Garibaldi lake to Garibaldi lake, but it proved very hard with no snow-shoes. I climbed to the side of the hill and luckily found the original trail. I'd recommend not leaving the summer trail. The scenery at the lake is pretty interesting a wide flat white plane. Garibaldi lake seems pretty solidly frozen, however some other hikers walked on Barrier lake and said they saw a crack forming.
