Headed to the east parking lot at golden ears today. Grabbed my gear and set out for the walk. The east trail is very basic open fairly flat and a good walk down to the connector bridge. Headed over the bridge I went towards the hikers beach where I sat and had a bit to eat and take in some peace and tranquility. I turned back at that point and headed up the west trail where I had some fun climbing rocks to get up to where you can head back to the left or to alder flats to the right. I headed to alder flats passing a group that had stayed over the prior night. I was pressed for time so did not stay at alder flats. I turned and took the west trail back which is a blast heading through the forest and over logs and down some rocks.
Once back on the trail it is a beautiful walk back down to the green tank and Menzies trail where you’ll need to hang a left to head down that section back to the east parking lot.
Saw a handfull of peaople through the day.
Finished at 14.3kms done, trail was in great shape starting to get soft in spots but nothing horrible.
It was all in all an awesome day, highly recommend and was only 4hrs out there including stops.
Plans for Evans peak next week
