I'd long been confused about this hike, which I believe is referred to as Howe Sound Bluffs in the old Dawn Hanna guidebook. after the HWY 99 construction, it seems a lot of those old parking pull outs and some trailheads got lost. However, this trail is still intact and in good shape. The viewpoint at the end has a great bench to relax on and offers unique views of Anvil and Gambier Islands, as well as the Sunshine Coast. A nice 10km round trip day for the early season.
Park in the wide gravel pull out right before Loggers Creek on the east side of highway 99. Walk approx 5 mins and the trailhead is easily found right after Deeks Creek. This route also has the option to reach Deeks Lake (I guess this must be the old access) if you take the appropriate turns at the junction. The junctions are well signed. The whole trail is well marked actually, even the detours around the deadfall which occurred during the windstorm of 2006.
