DIRECTIONS: Drive north from Vancouver on Sea to Sky highway. Near Porteau Cove, look for signs for the Deeks Lake Trail or Porteau Rd. Turn off highway at an overpass that leads to a parking lot (and nothing but a parking lot.) Trailhead starts in the lot at a signpost, but the rough road the trail follows for the first 3km or so is drivable with a 4WD or high-clearance vehicle with some power.create
SUMMARY: The Deek's Lake trail offers a good variety of terrain and intensity with views of Howe Sound. The first third of the trail is on a logging road. The other two thirds varies between steep and relatively low incline. The trail is generally well marked.create

This was a last minute choice for us but it was a real unexpected gem! The FSR is pretty gradual and seems to have grown over enough that it doesn't detract too much from wanting to be on an actual trail. Once you turn off, the climb starts to pick up and the last little bit gets pretty steep in sections. There are markers along the route so it is straightforward. I hadn't actually seen pictures of the lake in advance but I was impressed with how clear and deep it was. Will be back to spend some more time there for sure!
