This is an overnight trip (5/22-23). We camped ~6400' on Saturday, and climbed on Sunday.
The trail is not signed/marked, but has an obvious boot track to follow. A lot of skiers. Current snow level shortly after 4500'. The flat area near the headwater of Silver Star Creek was somewhat swampy. I stepped through snow into water a few times.
View of Vasiliki Ridge and Silver Star Mt about 1-2 hour in, before you go into the trees again, the swamp, the headwall, and the upper basin.
We took the left flank (east) up along Silver Star Creek, which is steep. On the way down, my partner tumbled down to a tree (I didn't see), and suffered maybe concussion on top of scratches and cuts. I back climbed slowly. It's better to take the right flank (west) up, more gradual.
The climb to the col is straightforward and fairly easy. Climb to the peak is exposed, poses some risk, where rocks were poking out of melting snow. I didn't make the last 10 feet, and narrow slab of rock without good hand-hold. View is incredible at the col, and also along the climb to the peak itself.
We took crampons (not sure if it's absolutely necessary), ice-axe (must have) and helmet.
