A 2 nighter on the quieter side of Garibaldi. Well, Fri night was quiet, only 3 tents including my own. Sat night it looked like a music fest at the campground, with 53+ tents, but what can you expect on a long weekend in a popular Park?
Campsite is pleasantly outfitted with tent pads, outhouse, bear hang and grey water dump. The creek was flowing and a good water source.
I explored up the Helm ridge as described in the Scrambles book. There was a dusting of fresh snow up there, and some giant animal tracks. They seemed too big for cougar, but too clawed for a black bear.
The views from the ridge are beautiful! I'd return to explore towards Gentian and Corrie peaks from here. Castle Towers is currently above my ability, but I love a good off trail ridge walk with no crowds. :)
I was relieved to return to the parking lot Sun without car break ins.
