So the original plan was to head over to Golden Ears provincial park. However, due to snowfall, this was very much out of the question. Arriving at a closed yellow gate, the secondary plan was Eaton lake-- which was inaccessible due to washouts (I was smart enough to google information this time around before we headed over blindly). Considering how often I would go to Bunzten lake in the past month, I changed up the habit by going to the smaller lake next to Bunzten lake. A short drive later we arrived at an empty parking lot and began our trek in the rain.
Naturally, because this trail is quite short and flat, a tangent adventure to the nearby swamp commenced. Crossing a road into a nice forest, it eventually leads to a forest service road. Head down the forest service road to a crosswalk to get to the swamp. We initially made the mistake of going up, and roamed along the power lines before deciding there was indeed an error in our navigation.
There was still snow near the swamp somehow on the day of our adventure, while the area surrounding Sasamat lake had none. Overall the lake itself is a nice short walk, and the long bridge is iconic to the lake. The snow really added beauty to the swamp which is only a short elevation gain away, but I imagine it looks less interesting without the snow...
