Some friends and I took a long weekend trip down to Washington for Family Day. We ended up hiking the Monogram Lake/Lookout Mountain trail as a day hike just outside of Marblemount, WA in the North Cascades National Park.
Short story- We were foiled by Miles and Feet and spent our time on endless switchbacks only to turn around at the junction. 2.8 miles is somehow a long 4.5km when you are gaining elevation that quickly. No matter though, we were the only people we saw all day, and the snow falling softly on the huge trees as we got our workout for later indulgences of cheap US wine and import cheese, made it all ok.
No photos, there wasn't much to see in the thick forest, but I thought I would post this in case anyone ends up down on Hwy 20 looking for a hike with easy access from the road. Someone wanting a cardio workout ha ha.
